Where is Bethesda's content ID system (since this is how YouTube handles DMCA before a DMCA claim is required)?īethesda isn't any more responsible to police copyright/pirated material than Valve is with Steam. Is this still within the definition of a 'rapid takedown' as is required by the DMCA? Right now the only way to report a DMCA claim is to send an e-mail and according to the blog post it takes weeks for the offending content to be taken down. Shouldn't Bethesda make it easier for mod authors to report DMCA claims? Wouldn't it make sense for them to actually have a fully fleshed out reporting system? Adding my questions from below to this post to continue the conversation. (Not the reddit post, bethesda's post)ĮDIT: So apparently DMCA is the appropriate route for mod authors to get their work removed if pirated. It just means that you now need to have a copy of FO4 to upload which should have been a requirement to begin with. What is Bethesda going to do to punish the users that legitimately don't care if their Steam ID is linked to their account? Is this steam ID link on the account public? Is it something that is reportable now? This is the problem, and at no point does this update stop the piracy. While the blog post is a little emotional, his points are valid. This is probably in response to the very long blog post (timestamp shows otherwise) that was posted over ( ) This automatically links your account to your Steam ID.Īt no point did Bethesda address the potential piracy issue whatsoever. Uploading mods to requires Fallout 4 ownership via a Steam-linked account To link your account, start Fallout 4, select Mods, and log in.
